The children of John Hamilton Jackson and Millie Ann Ward Jackson

John Hamilton Jackson (March 18, 1859-Dec. 24, 1924) and Millie Ann Ward (May 27, 1860-Aug. 9, 1928) were married on April 1, 1883, at her parents' home in Stokes County in the presence of Sam Ward and Belle Jackson.

What follows is a listing of their children and grandchildren. This information, cobbled together years ago by their youngest son, Robert Alton Jackson, has not been updated in many years, as will be obvious. In addition to Mamie Louella Jackson Martin Miller (March 26, 1895-Oct. 7, 1951), their sixth child (the mother of Brother and Cissie), their children were William Daniel (Feb. 4, 1884-Nov. 24, 1912), James Lee (Juba; June 9, 1885-Nov. 4, 1952), Mary Ward (March 3, 1887-Nov. 6, 1887), John Madison (Sept. 15, 1888-Sept. 23, 1955), Grover Cleveland (Aug. 27, 1892-April 15, 1952), Hattie Belle (Aug. 31, 1899-April 14, 1933), Edwin Schley (July 26, 1901-Feb. 20, 1973) and Robert Alton (Dec. 26, 1904-).

Mamie's brother William Daniel Jackson (Feb. 4, 1884-Nov. 24, 1912) married Lelia May Dunnagan (Dec. 16, 1887-July 6, 1958) on Dec. 6, 1906. Their children were:
1. Millie Gwendolyn (Jan. 27, 1908-). She married Fred Colin Disher (Oct. 26, 1909-).
2. Wilhelmina (July 23, 1909-). She married Daniel Hubbard Ligon (July 25, 1906-).
3. William Daniel Jr. (Feb. 19, 1911-Feb. 25, 1911).
4. Calvin Ward (April 13, 1912-July 15, 1928).

b. Douglas Jackson (June 12, 1945-). He married Trudy Leigh Perry (Nov. 21, 1945-) on Sept. 29, 1972. Their children were Lisa Michelle (Deb. 9, 1966-; Trudy's daughter by a first marriage who was adopted by Douglas Jackson Disher) and Adam Jackson (Aug, 13-1974-).
2. Wilhelmina Jackson and Daniel Hubbard Ligon had these children:
a. Daniel Jackson (Sept. 30, 1946-). He married Sally Anne Rice Sutton (May 22, 1941-) on Feb. 15, 1976. Their children (both Sally's children by a first marriage) were Pamela Christin Sutton (Feb. 11, 1965-) and Stephanie Lynn Sutton (March 16, 1969-).

Mamie's brother James Lee Jackson (June 9, 1885-Nov. 4, 1952) married Lucy L. Lineback (April 19, 1888-Dec. 22, 1968) on June 24, 1906. Their children were:
1. Rosland Evelyn (June 9, 1909-). She married Harry Gordy on June 4, 1932. They later divorced.
2. Cecil Lee Sr. (June 9, 1911-). He married Lela Elizabeth Cockerham (Oct. 2, 1910-) on Dec. 18, 1929. Their children were:
a. Cecil Lee Jackson Jr. (April 11, 1932-). He married Barbara McKinnis (March 29, 1934-) in November 1952. Their children were Pamela Ann (Dec. 27, 1956-) and Jeffrey Lee (Dec. 25, 1960-).
b. Jean Arthur Jackson (Sept. 13, 1934-). She married Dewey Lee Holt (May 7, 1932-) in November 1953. Their children were Dewey Lee Jr. (June 8, 1955-), Nicki Dee (Nov. 2, 1957-) and Kate Bee (Dec. 27, 1966-).
c. Lucy Elizabeth (March 7, 1938-) married Ray Funderburke, from whom she was divorced. She married William L. Smith (Oct. 24, 1931-) on June 30, 1967.

Mamie's brother John Madison Jackson (Sept. 15, 1888-Sept. 23, 1955) married Myrtle Alice Pilcher (July 27, 1892-Sept. 10, 1914) on Oct. 12, 1909. Their children were:
1. Elvin Jeannette (Sept. 18, 1910-Dec. 14, 1975). She married James Winfred Pfaff (Aug. 11, 1905-Aug. 23, 1953) on Sept. 18, 1928). Their children were:
a. Betty Lou (July 18, 1929-). She married John Settlemyre (Oct. 23, 1927-) on June 24, 1952; their children were James Anthony (June 23, 1954-), Terry Lynn (July 13, 1957-Dec. 4, 1958) and Betty Kimerly (Feb. 18, 1960-).
b. Winifred Jackson (Nov. 4, 1930-). She married James Carlton Queen (April 23, 1928-) on Aug. 15, 1959; their children were Stacie Lee (March 18, 1965-) and Ann Bronwyn (June 30, 1967-).
2. Annie Lucille (April 19, 1912-). She married Walter Clyde Vernon (June 19, 1908-Nov. 11, 1947) on Nov. 10, 1943). They had a daughter, Sharon Lee (Aug. 4, 1945-), who married Robert Eugene Hayes (June 9, 1944-), with whom she had two children, Robert Scott (Aug. 23, 1968-) and Heather Bronwyn (Dec. 5, 1969-). Annie's second husband was Thomas Martin (Nov. 2, 1946-), whom she married in 1964. They had a son, Thomas Martin Jr. (March 30, 1965-).
3. An unnamed infant daughter who was born and died in July 1914; note that her mother died three months later.
John Madison Jackson's second wife was Jennie Caroline Keeffe (April 29, 1899-April 25, 1960), whom he married in 1917. Their children were:

3. Janet Maureen (Dec. 29, 1922-). She married William Searles Christian (May 10, 1924-) on April 7, 1963. He had two children by a previous marriage, Lynne Christian and William Valentine Christian. (Lynne Christian had a son, Christian Baggett, during a marriage that ended in divorce. William Valentine Christian married Dianne and had a daughter, Valerie Dianna Christian.)

Mamie's brother Robert Alton Jackson (Dec. 26, 1904) married Eva Welles Cash (July 2, 1907-Oct. 7, 1967) on June 19, 1929. Their foster son was Benjamin Douglas Archer Jr. (Feb. 13, 1926-, the son of Hazel Cash Archer, Eva's sister, who had died in 1926. Benjamin married Margaret Garland on Dec. 29, 1946; their children were:
1. Mark Paul (Dec. 21, 1947-). He married Judy Butler (1944-) on May 6, 1972).
2. Rodney Alton (Dec. 7, 1950-).
3. Seth Neal (June 15, 1953-).
Robert's second wife was Sara Marshall Howell (May 4, 1915-Sept. 15, 1972).
